Daphne Glasmacher

From an early age, Daphne Glasmacher (Ede 1979, Amsterdam NL based) has been fascinated by optical illusions, minimal art, and contrast in the arts and everyday life. She is inspired by optical movements of colours, contrasts, and images that suggest movement. The properties of optical illusions can be found in her work in which the viewer perceives something different from different points of view. Her fascination for the universe and the black hole are experimental parts of her research. The colour intentions of the sunset and sunrise give her work colour and contrast.

Daphne Glasmacher often works with geometric patterns with which she creates graphic images and processes them in 2D or 3D installations such as a print, 2D or 3D object, stop-motion, projection, or spatial installation.

In her work contrasts come together in harmony and images are often seen from different points of view, always looking for balance and imbalance in rhythm.

However, the combination of shapes or colours in which movement is suggested or manipulated is always central to her work.

Daphne Glasmacher is a young talented artist who has shown her abstract works during various light art - art exhibitions such as Dutch (de )Light (Unna DE), Hi-Lo Art (Zuidertoren-Schiermonnikoog NL), ILIGHTU (Utrecht, NL), PAN Amsterdam (NL), Art Rotterdam (NL), KunstRai Amsterdam (NL),
Parklicht (Amsterdam NL), LJG (Amsterdam), Light forms (Rotterdam NL), Vila Erica- De Kijkdoos Bennekom (NL), Etang d'Art Bourgogne (la Comelle FR), '5ème BIENNALE les 16 et 17 Juillet 2016' (FR), Art en Morvan (Atelier Stern, Le Murger, FR), Lichtkunst Gouda. (Gouda_NL)
